A bold reimagining of the woman behind the monster.

Before Frankenstein became a legend, Mary Shelley was a teenage outsider navigating love, grief, and radical ideas.

This People’s Theatre production of MARY SHELLEY by Helen Edmundson pulls the celebrated novelist out of the shadows of her creation and into the spotlight where she belongs.

“Do you ever think it is a curse – this passion of the mind?”

Far from a dusty literary biography, MARY SHELLEY an exciting, contemporary story about art, loss, and creative obsession.

Matthew Hope and Tracey Lucas direct a cast led by Holly Stamp as Mary, in this gripping play that charts the turbulent journey of a young woman who defied convention and dared to live, love and write on her own terms.

Mary Shelley plays at People’s Theatre Tuesday 10 – Saturday 14 February 2026. Tickets are available here.
