Theatr Clwyd has announced six major new shows, from award-winning comedy to dark thrillers, coming to the Flintshire-based venue this autumn.
September will offer darkly comic thrills in The Other Side of Murder (4 – 12 Sep) which takes audiences to a cosy family dinner which goes very wrong with ghostly visitations, explosive revelations and plenty of twists. It is joined by the return of a modern classic, Tristan & Yseult (22 – 26 Sep). Originally created by acclaimed theatre company Kneehigh, and directed by the award-winning Emma Rice, this beautiful show about forbidden love garnered an array of five star reviews globally.
A West End success story opens October as the smash-hit comedy Pride & Prejudice* (*sort of) (29 Sep – 3 Oct), give an irreverent retelling of Jane Austen’s beloved novel mixing romance, razor-sharp wit and pop classics.
In the build up to Halloween, Shirley Jackson’s iconic ghost story The Haunting of Hill House (13 – 17 Oct) promises to send chills down your back. Having been a best-selling novel and a hit Netflix series, this new production promises to use every theatrical trick, to have you on the edge of your seat (and occasionally jumping out of it).
No season is complete without a quality production of Shakespeare, with Othello (20 – 24 Oct), offering audiences the chance to experience one of theatre’s greatest villains – the traitorous and manipulative Iago.
Finally, Oscar Wilde’s gothic masterpiece The Picture of Dorian Gray, (27 – 31 Oct) runs in Halloween week. A stylish and unsettlingly thriller about the man who sells his soul for eternal perfection.
More productions will be announced in May and June for Autumn’s exciting programme at Theatr Clwyd.
