Spectacular new season on sale at Newcastle Theatre Royal

From exhilarating drama to electrifying dance with some must-see blockbusters in between, the brand-new season on sale now at Newcastle Theatre Royal brings a dazzling array of performances to the region.

Two showstopping musicals are the highlight of a spectacular season. The outrageous musical comedy The Book of Mormon returns in Summer 2025 (Tue 22 Jul – Sat 9 Aug 2025) and follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get. The crowning glory of Broadway, the West End, and beyond, the international smash hit musical SIX makes its royal return to Newcastle Theatre Royal (Tue 12 – Sat 23 Aug 2025) following its three previous sell out runs.

Entertaining the whole family, Le Navet Bete are bringing King Arthur to life in Newcastle (Mon 10 – Wed 12 Mar 2025). This hilarious retelling of the Arthurian legends is set to have audiences crying with laughter. Also perfect for all ages, audience favourites Newcastle Musical Theatre Company return with their production of Shrek the Musical (Tue 1 – Sat 5 Jul 2025).

In a production which celebrates movie history and peeks at the choppy waters behind Hollywood’s first blockbuster, audiences can dive into the drama behind the scenes of Jaws in The Shark is Broken (Tue 18 – Sat 22 Mar 2025), written by and starring Ian Shaw, whose father starred in the original film.

Dance Consortium wowed Theatre Royal audiences with their international dance performances in 2024 and will be returning to the venue twice in 2025. The first installment, Eun-Me Ahn’s Dragons (Fri 14 & Sat 15 Mar 2025), presents a joyful riot of dance, music and non-stop movement that brings together a mix of dance styles from across Asia and later in the year, Canada’s stunning dance company, Ballet BC (British Columbia), will be making their highly anticipated return to the UK (Tue 27 & Wed 28 May 2025).

As well as watching Johannes Radebe in Kinky Boots (Tue 6 – Sat 10 May 2025), Strictly Come Dancing fans can catch rising star Nikita Kuzmin on his first ever solo UK and Ireland Tour, Midnight Dancer (Sun 27 Apr 2025), which promises to be an unforgettable night of entertainment.

Having recently received the prestigious acclaim of being Her Majesty the Queen’s favourite literary Detective, Superintendent Roy Grace is returning to Newcastle Theatre Royal in a brand-new play, for the seventh Peter James stage adaptation and world premiere of the bestselling Picture You Dead (Tue 13 – Sat 17 May 2025).

Boys from the Blackstuff (Tue 20 – Sat 24 May 2025), a powerful new adaptation of Alan Bleasdale’s BAFTA award-winning TV series set in the tough economic times of 80s Liverpool comes to Newcastle Theatre Royal direct from the National Theatre and the West End in May.

From the team that brought Wor Bella, Haddaway Harry and The Cramlington Train Wreckers, Carrying David (Sat 21 & Sun 22 Jun 2025) is a moving play inspired by the courage of terminally ill David and boxer Glenn McCrory as they back from the depths of despair for a shot at glory.
