Silent Uproar & Eve Nicol bring new interactive theatre to Hull’s Freedom Festival following landmark Royal Lyceum Edinburgh Appointment – Vampires! Vampires! Vampires! at The Guildhall

Award-winning Hull-based theatre company Silent Uproar (The Night of the Werewolves LIVE, Dead Girls Rising, A Super Happy Story, Shit Life Crisis) present Vampires! Vampires! Vampires!, a brand-new production for Hull’s Freedom Festival 2026 programme.

The bloodier, campier, and gloriously dramatic sequel to the company’s Guardian-acclaimed show The Night of the Werewolves LIVE, Silent Uproar’s latest offering invites audiences to participate in an interactive table-top experience set in the year 1897. Inspired by BBC’s The Traitors and games such as Werewolves and Mafia, the format returns for its second outing at Freedom Festival, following The Night of the Werewolves LIVE’s success at the festival in 2025, hailed by The Guardian as a “high-camp game of smut and survival”.

Participants play as members of Hull City Council as it scrambles to stop the arrival of Dracula. Each player holds a secret identity card: either as an innocent Councillor genuinely trying to save the city, or as a secret vampire hiding in plain sight and seeking to spread confusion, aiming to grow their bloodthirsty hoard.

Two ticket types are available: participant tickets, for those joining the action as a Hull City Councillor, and spectator tickets, for those who would rather sit back and enjoy the bluffing, betrayal, and political chaos unfolding around them.

Featuring writing by Eve Nicol, recently announced as the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh’s first-ever Trainee Artistic Director, the production is directed by Silent Uproar’s Artistic Director and CEO Alex Mitchell, with the world of the show brought vividly to life through the scenic art and game design of Ian Hinley and the brand and character design of Jenni Harrison. Crafting the show’s sonic landscape is musical director and sound designer Eddi Pickard, whose work spans international stages, film and documentary, with lighting design by Adam Foley completing the production’s atmosphere. The show is produced by Alex Moran, founding member of northern horror makers Thunder Road.

Eve Nicol is the writer; Ian Hinley, who worked on our Werewolves show, has created another beautiful design; Eddi Pickard returns to conjure up another bone-chilling sound design; and Adam Foley is dreaming up how we can make the best possible use of the Guildhall.

Speaking on the arrival of Vampires! Vampires! Vampires! at Freedom Festival 2026, the show’s writer Eve Nicol, said: “It’s been really fun to hitch a ride on two pivotal moments in history: 1897, when Hull was granted city status and the publication of Bram Stoker’s Dracula which unleashed vampires into the popular imagination.

Freedom Festival is the perfect place to explore what kind of society we want to build, all wrapped up in a bloody good night out that will terrorise and tickle audiences in equal measure.”
