Newcastle got a taste of the West End this week as Mrs Doubtfire, star of the hit musical coming to Newcastle Theatre Royal in 2026 (Wed 23 Sep – Sun 11 Oct 2026), visited the city for her very own tour of the Toon.

The Scottish nanny visited Newcastle for a whirlwind day of sightseeing and fun, with stops including yoga on the Quayside, a bottle of brown ale at The Strawberry, a trip to St James’ Park and NUFC club shop to choose a football kit, as well trying her first Greggs. The day concluded with a ride on a personalised open-top bus, provided by Go North East, before a final stop at the Angel of the North.

The tour showcased some of Newcastle’s most iconic spots and gave locals a sneak peek of what they can expect when Mrs Doubtfire arrives next year.

Mrs Doubtfire The Musical is full of the moments you know and love from the film and is packed with brilliant new songs. It is heartwarming, hilarious, and great fun for the whole family.
