Make an appointment at the People’s Theatre next month for Steel Magnolias!
“I don’t trust anybody that does their own hair. I don’t think it’s normal.”
In a small-town beauty salon in Louisiana, six women set the world to rights.
Each facing highs and lows in their work, marriages and parenthood, the women unite to gossip and unwind. And when faced with adversity, their deep strength and devotion to each other comes to the fore.

This celebration of female friendship will have audiences laughing at its whip-smart jokes, then crying at its devastating heartbreak.
“You have no idea how wonderful you are …”
“Of course we do …”
Based on the true story of writer Robert Harling’s sister Susan, STEEL MAGNOLIAS opened off-Broadway in 1987 and ran for three years. The much-loved 1989 film adaptation starred Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts, while the 2012 remake by Lifetime starring Queen Latifah became the channel’s third most watched original telecast of all time.

All of the play’s action takes place in Truvy’s beauty salon, so Emma Robson (who plays Truvy) and Ashton Matthews (who plays apprentice beautician Annelle) are being advised during rehearsals by hairdresser and wig-maker Keith Wigham on all things hairdressing and hairstyling!
This funny and poignant exploration of life, love, grief and sisterhood is not to be missed!
Tickets for STEEL MAGNOLIAS are available from the People’s Theatre Box Office on 0191 265 5020 (option 2) and online at www.peoplestheatre.co.uk
