Audience favourite Christian Mortimer returns for York Theatre Royal panto Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

York Theatre Royal announced that local Yorkshire actor Christian Mortimer will be returning to panto later this year to take on the role of Snow White’s dashing Prince.

Christian, who charmed audiences last year in the role of Prince Michael of Moravia, will be reunited with York panto favourites in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs –  Robin Simpson who returns once again as the Dame and Tommy Carmichael.

Christian Mortimer grew up in North Yorkshire,  studied at Rossett High School in Harrogate, and York College before training at ArtsEd, in London.  Christian has performed with local companies including York Light Opera Company and Pick Me Up Theatre and histheatre credits include Ensemble in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Gaiety Theatre),  Issacher in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (Gaiety Theatre), and Cinderella (York Theatre Royal).

Juliet Forster, Creative Director at York Theatre Royal, said: “I am thrilled to have Christian return to play our Prince Charming again this year. He is such a talented performer and audiences really loved him as our Prince in Sleeping Beauty. He had such a fabulous rapport with Robin and Tommy and it will be great to see them back on the stage together for more panto fun and hilarity!”

Christian Mortimer said “I can’t wait to be back for another year of panto at York Theatre Royal. I had the best time in Sleeping Beauty – it’s such a joy to perform for so many people as part of their Christmas celebrations. I had a very memorable slosh scene with Tommy and Robin last year and I can’t wait to see what the Snow White script has in store for us!”

Christian joins the talented cast which includesin CBBC and CBeebies’ Richard David-Caine (Horrible Histories, Swashbuckle, Horrible Science), Jenny Gayner (Chicago, Gangsta Granny) and Dean Whatton (Game of Thrones).

The show is written by Paul Hendy, directed by Juliet Forster and co-produced with award-winning Evolution Productions – the team behind previous York pantomime smash hits Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin and last year’s Sleeping Beauty.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is at York Theatre Royal from 4 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. With lavish costumes, stunning sets, hilarious jokes and dazzling special effects, the show is set to be an unmissable treat for the whole family.
