A reunion turns deadly in THE WASP, coming soon to the People’s Theatre in Heaton!
Olivier Award-winner Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s sharp psychological thriller THE WASP kicks off the new Season at Newcastle’s People’s Theatre.
Heather (Hattie Eason) and Carla (Annie Carins) went to school together, but they haven’t kept in touch.
Heather has gone on to become a high-flyer with a loving husband and a big house, while Carla struggles to make ends meet and has a challenging homelife.
When the two meet up again at Heather’s request, their awkward reunion slowly unfurls into something much darker. Because despite their differences, both have something the other needs.
A proposition is made, and the consequences will be deadly …

“There is an impact to everything a person does. Even the simplest moment. Even a single word can have an effect.”
Premiering in 2015 at Hampstead Theatre’s Hampstead Downstairs before transferring to the West End, The Stage described THE WASP as “sprung like a bear trap, a play with very sharp teeth”!
Darkly funny and impossible to look away from, this gripping revenge drama is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing. It explores the enduring impact of childhood experiences and asks just how far would you go to settle an old score?
The past has a long memory, and Heather and Carla are about to find out just how far it reaches!
The WASP plays at People’s Theatre Monday 7 – Saturday 12 September 2026. Tickets are available here.
