A Brief Case of Crazy at York Theatre Royal’s studio
Next month (16-18 Jul), York audiences will have the chance to see award-winning physical comedy A Brief Case of Crazy at York Theatre Royal. Written, directed and performed by Rowan Armitt-Brewster, the family-friendly show is inspired by the timeless genius of Mr Bean, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.
A heart-warming and hilarious physical comedy, A Brief Case of Crazy is told through slick choreography, mime, clowning and puppetry. Created to be welcoming and accessible to a wide range of audiences, the show uses the power of visual and non-verbal storytelling to reduce language barriers and to ensure there is something for all ages to enjoy.
Rowan is a familiar face with York Theatre Royal audiences, having last appeared in Aladdin (2024) as the hilarious PC World and in Around The World in 80 Days-ish! as Inspector Fix. Alongside Rowan, the cast also includes Samuel Cunningham and Lennie Longworth.

Rowan Armitt-Brewster said, “I’m so excited to perform this piece for audiences in York. All the hard work pays off in such a satisfying way when you feel the magic of a live audience experiencing a story with you, you can hear them laughing at the jokes, feel them being moved by the tender moments and getting hyped by the upbeat choreography. I can’t wait to be back at York Theatre Royal again!”
Meet Thomas, an awkward, introverted office worker with a quiet crush on his equally shy colleague, Daisy. His quest for love must contend with a boisterous boss named Simon and a rather bothersome briefcase that drags an awkward introvert into extraordinary events. Will his quest for love fail? Or will he discover, it’s what’s on the inside that counts? A Brief Case of Crazy is a silent love story with a very loud heart.
A Brief Case of Crazy plays at York Theatre Royal 16 Jul – 18 Jul. Tickets are available here.
