THE DOUBLE OLIVIER AWARD-WINNING SMASH HIT RETURNS

A sell-out before its world premiere season even opened in 2016, Matthew Bourne’s triumphant adaptation of the legendary film returns to The Lowry, having won two Olivier Awards and dazzled audiences and critics alike across the UK and the USA.

The Red Shoes is a tale of obsession, possession and one girl’s dream to be the greatest dancer in the world. Victoria Page lives to dance but her ambitions become a battleground between the two men who inspire her passion.

Additional information

The performance on Tue 26 November includes a post-show Q&A.

Audio described performance: Thu 28 November 2019, 2pm. By Caroline Burn. There will be a touch tour at 12.30pm.

World famous, dancer, actor and choreographer, Adam Cooper returns to New Adventures after more than 20 years, to play the iconic role of Svengali-like Impresario ‘Boris Lermontov’; and one of New Adventures much loved stars, Ashley Shaw, returns to the role of ‘Victoria Page’ having first created it for the 2016 World Premiere Season.

Set to the achingly romantic music of golden-age Hollywood composer Bernard Herrmann, The Red Shoes is orchestrated  by Terry Davies, with cinematic designs by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable and sound by Paul Groothuis.

The Red Shoes’ sold out its first visit to The Lowry and returned for an unprecedented second week due to phenomenal demand when it again smashed box office records, so early booking is highly recommended for the show’s much anticipated return.
