Laura Whitmore stars in Paula Hawkins’ psychological thriller, The Girl on the Train, coming to Leeds Grand Theatre

Simon Friend Entertainment and Josh Andrews Productions bring a new UK tour of the smash-hit Wiltshire Creative Production The Girl on the Train to Leeds Grand Theatre from Tue 1 –Sat 5 July 2025.

Adapted from Paula Hawkins’ novel –an international phenomenon which has sold over 20 million copies worldwide and inspired the DreamWorks film starring Emily Blunt– this gripping new play previously enjoyed a record-breaking theatrical tour in 2019. Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel, who have adapted The Girl on the Train for the stage, say: “Since opening in the UK, The Girl on the Train has been performed around the world, and we’re thrilled that Love day Ingram’s powerful and stylish production is coming back in a UK wide tour.”

Directed by Loveday Ingram, The Girl on the Train stars Irish presenter, writer, broadcaster and former Love Island host, Laura Whitmore, as Rachel Watson.

Laura Whitmore is known for her roles hosting Love Island, Celebrity Juice, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now, MTV and much more, as well as her own BBC Radio 5 Live series, The Laura Whitmore Show. She made her West End debut in2:22 A Ghost Story, and currently hosts BBC Podcast Murder They Wrote alongside Iain Stirling. She is also the Presenter and Associate Producer of her hugely successful ITV documentary series Laura Whitmore Investigates. The completing company cast members, are Daniel Burke as Kamal Abdic, Zena Carswell as Anna, Samuel Collings as Scott Hipwell, Freya Parks as Megan Hipwell, Paul McEwan as DI Gaskill, Edward Harrison as Tom Watson and understudies Ellie Gallimore and Oliver Brooke.

On joining the tour, Laura says: “I read the book when it first came out and I was obsessed by it. I love it when you find a book and all you can think about is that story. You wake up a little bit earlier to read the book and stay up too late to finish it. I am excited to show people my portrayal of Rachel next summer.“

Premise: Rachel Watson longs for a different life. Her only escape is the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day, happy and in love. Or so it appears. When Rachel learns that the woman she’s been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself as a witness and even a suspect in a thrilling mystery in which she will face bigger revelations than she could ever have anticipated.
