On Sunday 19th July, an annual musical showcase is returning to the Lyric Stage at The Lowry, this year raising vital funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. The one-night event will feature a selection of songs from the world’s most beloved West End and Broadway shows, performed by cast showcasing the best of local talent.

The seven societies taking part include:

  • All Saints Musical Productions
  • Horwich Amateur Theatre Society (HATS)
  • Hyde Musical Society
  • Mossley Operatic and Dramatic Society (MODS)
  • South Manchester AOS
  • Romiley Operatic Society
  • Sale and Altrincham Musical Theatre (SAMT)

Simon Pickup the Musical Director for the concert said:

“This charity showcase first started back in 1991, and over the years, we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities such as the Christie, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, local hospices, Prevent Breast Cancer amongst others.

This year the chosen charity is The Alzheimer’s Society. Alzheimer’s and dementia have impacted almost many of our members in some way, caring for family members and loved ones. This project is incredibly close to all our hearts. There is nothing more rewarding than doing what we love on stage, knowing that all the proceeds from the ticket sales go directly to supporting the vital care services and research from the Alzheimer’s Society.”
