Less than one month to go for Cinderella at Grand Opera House York

Cinderella at the Grand Opera House York is set to be the city’s biggest Christmas show, boasting dazzling casting, glittering production values and a laugh-a-minute script.

With a script by Jon Monie (writer of last year’s production of Beauty and the Beast & winner of Best Script at the Great British Pantomime Awards 2019), this spectacular production will delight with its enchanting story, side-splitting comedy, lavish settings and adorable miniature ponies.

And due to last years success, we are thrilled to announce the Relaxed Performance of Cinderella will take place on Friday 2^nd Janaury.

The Relaxed Performance is a one-off performance primarily designed for people who may find visiting a theatre daunting. The performance is designed to welcome people, especially those on the autistic spectrum, those who may make involuntary sounds, or anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed environment. Young children can enjoy the opportunity to watch the pantomime in this environment, especially if it’s their first experience of the theatre.

During this performance, adjustments will be made including lighting remaining at a low level in the auditorium, flashing and strobe lighting removed, sound levels lowered and loud bangs removed. The atmosphere in the auditorium will be relaxed and audience members can feel free to move around and make noise.  In addition to these adaptions, there will now also be the symbol-friendly resources which include flashcards with symbols that help identify characters and objects found in the production and the visit to the theatre.
